Pinchos

If you're wandering around Chelmsford and craving an authentic Mediterranean experience, Pinchos on 3A Baddow Rd, CM2 0BX is where you want to be. This cozy little gem blends Spanish tapas culture with a casual, welcoming vibe that keeps locals and visitors coming back for more.

From the moment you walk in, it feels like a small escape to Spain. The atmosphere? Warm, relaxed, and slightly rustic with a touch of charm. It’s the kind of place that’s perfect for dinner with friends, a spontaneous lunch, or even a solo food adventure. It might not have a wheelchair-accessible car park, but it more than makes up for it with its character and personality.

One of the first things you'll notice at Pinchos is how seriously they take flavor. Their tapas selection is absolutely top-tier-think juicy chorizo, perfectly seasoned patatas bravas, and rich, comforting cheesy mushrooms that practically melt on the tongue. Every dish is served with that unmistakable home-cooked quality. The seafood paella is another highlight, brimming with fresh king prawns and just the right balance of saffron and spice.

Not into seafood? The spicy beef and grilled sardines are well-loved too, offering bold flavors without being overpowering. And if you're just here for something light, the bread basket served with infused oils is a great starter, or even better when paired with a few sips from their carefully curated wine list.

Speaking of drinks-Pinchos doesn't mess around. They serve a wide selection of alcohol, including Spanish wines, cocktails, cider, beer, and even spirits. Whether you're after a refreshing sangria with your tapas or a glass of rich red to complement a charcuterie board, there’s something for every palate.

They’ve also got some cool flexibility in how you dine. You can sit outside, especially nice during warmer days, and enjoy a little people-watching over a coffee or a glass of wine. In a rush? They offer takeaway and delivery, which is perfect for those cozy nights in when you still want restaurant-quality eats. And yes, they do dine-in too if you’re after the full experience.

What sets Pinchos apart from many others is how they cater to different dietary needs without compromising flavor. You’ll find vegan and vegetarian dishes, along with healthy options if you’re watching what you eat. There's even late-night food, which is surprisingly rare around this part of town.

Another underrated gem? Their coffee and desserts. You might not come for them initially, but don’t leave without trying their dessert specials. They rotate offerings, but whether it’s a silky chocolate mousse or something fruity and light, it’s always a win.

Pinchos is also known for being popular for lunch and dinner, but if you're a solo diner, don’t hesitate-it’s got that easy-going atmosphere where eating alone doesn’t feel awkward at all. Whether you're squeezing in a quick bite between errands or indulging in a longer meal with friends, it adapts to your rhythm.

In terms of similar spots in Chelmsford, few do the small plates concept as well as Pinchos. Some restaurants might have the vibe, others the drinks, but Pinchos ties it all together with consistently good food, service, and atmosphere. It’s not just a place to eat-it’s a place to linger, talk, share, and enjoy.

If you're in the area and craving something bold, flavorful, and a bit different, Pinchos is definitely worth checking out. Just be warned-you’ll probably want to come back.

Enjoyed tapas and wine in the sun in the outdoor seating area. Great lunchtime deal on the tapas for two of us, and including a bottle of wine the bill was under £70.

Great food, very good service, lovely evening. Ordered 3 tapas per person (4 of us) plus 1 x paella for 2. More than enough food. Food was hot, all came together and each dish was lovely. Waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Overall couldn't fault the evening and we'll definitely be back.

This place is a very cosy and lovely little tapas place. Great deals at lunch time. The food is absolutely gorgeous and the best sangria I've tasted in a while. I definitely will definitely return and have recommended it to friends.
